Jessica earned her Associates of Applied Science degree in Accounting from State University of New York at Broome and her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Binghamton University. She is an Enrolled Agent (EA) and has earned the privilege of representing taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service. Enrolled agent status is the highest credential the IRS awards and is issued to tax professionals who demonstrate special competence in federal tax planning, individual and business tax return preparation and representation matters. She must complete 72 hours of continuing education courses every three years to maintain this distinctive status.
Jessica's experience includes over 11 years working in public accounting and retail. She began her career as a cashier and was soon promoted to a supervisor after demonstrating strong management and customer service skills. During college, she started working in public accounting where she acquired invaluable experience in all phases of the accounting cycle working with all types of clients.
As a Staff Accountant, she performs audits, reviews, and monthly financial statement compilations for both our commercial and nonprofit clients. In between audits and reviews, Jessica coordinates and participates in a variety of special projects and provides IT support internally and to our clients. In addition, she assists with retirement and education planning and prepares tax returns for individuals, businesses, and nonprofit organizations. Jessica is an integral part of our tax services team.
Kathy earned her Associates of Applied Science degree in Business Management, with an emphasis in Hospitality Management, from State University of New York at Broome. She is currently enrolled at SUNY Broome pursuing an Associates of Applied Science degree in Accounting. She has earned Enrolled Agent (EA) status with the Internal Revenue Service. An Enrolled Agent is a federally-authorized tax practitioner who has technical expertise in the field of taxation and has unlimited practice rights. Individuals who obtain this elite status must adhere to ethical standards and complete 72 hours of continuing education courses every three years.
Kathy has over 25 years of management, accounting and customer service experience in retail, banking, construction, and the hospitality industry. After her early start in retail, she held front desk and management positions in several hotels across the country. Upon returning to this area, she worked in a supervisory position in lending and then in accounting and administrative positions in construction. Her diversified experience and education enable her to manage a variety of situations effectively.
She is a highly detailed individual with an extensive knowledge of accounting procedures and regulations. Kathy works with our business clients as our Accounting Specialist providing a wide range of services including financial statement preparation, payroll, and sales tax reporting. In addition, she is instrumental in training our new staff members and prepares income tax returns for individuals, businesses, and nonprofit organizations. Kathy is an important member of our tax preparation team.
Cindy Miller earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and her Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Binghamton University in New York. She is a licensed certified public accountant (CPA) in New York, Nevada, and California and a Certified Financial Planner (CFP ). She also holds a life, accident, and health insurance license. Cindy is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the National Association of Tax Professionals.
Cindy's experience includes over 30 years in public and private accounting working with businesses of all sizes from local start-up companies to multi-million dollar corporations. She has held executive positions in private corporations, management positions in public accounting firms, and board of director positions in nonprofit organizations. As an adjunct faculty member, she has taught college students in business courses in areas such as accounting, management, and computer science.
As the owner of Miller Financial Services, Cindy is responsible for leading her staff in providing excellent service to all of our clients. She provides consulting services in all areas of accounting and financial services including tax planning, auditing, business management, retirement planning, and cost efficiency. Her services include tax preparation; tax audit representation; compiled, reviewed and audited financial statements; and general business consulting to individuals, businesses and nonprofit organizations.
Jeffrey Miller holds life, accident, and health insurance licenses. He has attended numerous courses through State University of New York at Broome, Binghamton University, and Johns Hopkins University. He has obtained training and certifications in areas that include business management, law enforcement, fire and safety, and loss prevention.
His experience includes over 10 years in retail management, including implementation and supervision of loss prevention systems. He worked an additional 10 years in security and law enforcement where he gained valuable knowledge and insight that he uses to help our clients with internal controls and cost efficiency measures. He also has over 15 years of experience in commercial and residential estimating and equipment sales in the construction industry.
Jeff oversees office procedures and daily operations, including accounts payable and accounts receivable. He also assists with cost accounting and forensic accounting assignments. He is instrumental in the analysis of our clients' business operations and develops systems to ensure strong internal controls and asset preservation. During tax season, Jeff closely monitors the work flow to see that our clients get the best service possible. He is an essential part of our tax preparation team, preparing tax returns and providing financial services to our client base.
Matt received his Bachelor of Science in Accounting, with a Concentration in Marketing, from State University of New York at Oneonta. He is registered with the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance as a tax preparer.
Matt's career started in public accounting where he prepared business income tax returns and resolved unique and complex issues to the maximum benefit of his clients. He has experience in retail management, and is currently an examiner conducting performance based audits of divisions of local governments. In recent years, Matt also prepared tax returns for a tax and financial services office.
During tax season, Matt is a vital member of our tax services team. He is a very determined, hard working individual who enjoys working with clients and is always happy to lend a helping hand.
June has completed courses in management, marketing, and human resources at several institutions including the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Cornell University. She also completed training with the CUNA (Credit Union National Association) Mortgage Corporation which enabled her to help implement the mortgage program at Horizons Federal Credit Union in Binghamton, New York.
June started in the financial services industry in 1978 in a credit union beginning as a teller and later becoming a loan officer. She worked in a supervisory role and worked closely with the CEO in providing all types of credit union products. After retiring from her position as Vice President of Member Services, June thought she was done! However, she returned to the work force in various capacities and found that working in the tax services business was a perfect match. She now has over 13 years of administrative experience in tax offices.
As our Administrative Assistant, June provides administrative support and is responsible for client service, scheduling, communications, and database management. During tax season, she is invaluable providing assistance wherever needed.
